Getting the Haircut of My Dreams at Rossano Ferreti Salon

I was in the middle of a definite hair-rut when I walked through the doors of the Rossano Ferretti Salon.

In an attempt to capture J. Lo’s amazing look, I cut my hair and bleached my ends a few months before. I had given up on haircuts. Whenever I described what I wanted, it never truly came to life, regardless of all the pictures I brought in. I could never get through to my stylist to explain what I wanted, and it seemed like the more I tried to describe what I wanted, the more my words turned to gibberish. All I wanted was a haircut that I could wash, let air-dry, and head out the door. I’m so busy running around New York City, and I wanted to spend less time on my hair. Also, having just turned the big 3-0, I wanted a more mature, chic look.

I knew I would be in good hands with the world-renowned Rossano, creator of the famous “Method” haircut, with over twenty luxury destinations worldwide. He’s a legendary hairstylist with clients like Kate Middleton, Jennifer Lawrence, Reese Witherspoon, and Lady Gaga, just to name a few. Merging his passion for architecture, fashion, and design, with thirty years of styling experience, Rossano has been on a quest to bring out women’s inner radiance through beautiful hair.

Rosano’s New York salon is laid out in a penthouse-style, and feels like more like a hip apartment than a busy salon. Everywhere I looked, guests were reading a book while their color was processing, watching a movie while their hair was drying, or observing some beautiful art. The whole environment is so calming, they say that when guests come they don’t want to leave. Rossano’s goal is to make you feel at home. And I felt like I was walking into a chic friend’s apartment.

This haircut honestly changed my life.

Instead of a drastic revamp, Rossano explained his hair philosophy of cutting the hair where it naturally falls. It was a haircut with the hair, not against the hair. Rossano also took time to ask me about my lifestyle. He let my hair air dry naturally to see where my wave fell. After that it was time for the scissors to go to work!

My favorite part was when they used the “magic” shears to get rid of some of my bulkiness. I have been trying to ask for this kind of cut for years, because I have so much hair. When the magic was complete, I was amazed that the haircut I saw in the mirror was the one I had always envisioned. In addition, it smelled fabulous from Rossano’s line of products. Applying concepts usually reserved for skincare, the products (designed twenty-five years ago) are designed to reveal the hair’s beauty from the inside out. Made in Italy, the entire range is sulphate, paraben, formaldehyde, SLS and cruelty-free.

In fact, Rossano Haircare is one of our favorite travel brands.

We were lucky to take the Rossano Haircare line with us on our recent tour of India, and our hair never loved us so much.  All of the products enhance what nature has already created, and leaves the hair healthy and balanced with unsurpassed strength, shine, and silkiness (All products are available at Sephora.com).

However, as wonderful as his products and his haircuts are, I left with more than just a fabulous ‘do. I learned all about Rossano’s path to success, and how he built his haircare empire. As a business owner, it was invaluable to hear how someone else built a strong brand with determination and pride. It is the dream of any entrepreneur working in the salon industry to open their first salon in a major city hub. Rossano has founded over twenty salons worldwide including New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Maldives, Monte Carlo, and Dubai, among other luxury destinations. His passion for hair came from the family businesses, as his mother owned a hair salon, and his grandfather owned a barbershop. It gave his dreams a foundation in which to flourish. You can still see these inspirations in his salons, where pictures of his family still hand on the walls.

For Rossano and his team, they believe in improving the industry by changing the way hair is cut, and creating a space that feels like a home, not a salon.

Minimalist design and personalized hair — it’s a simple business plan, but one that has brought Rossano fame and fortune. He is an unforgettable person, and makes every person feel like they’re a part of his success. Jan Spanguolo, his partner and long-time friend who gave me my cut, is just as amazing. I can’t wait for the next chance to return and get another dream haircut.

I’ve had the same hairstyle for years and am also the type of person who likes to do a minimal amount to my hair. I’ve been wanting to switch it up and this might just be the guy I need to see.

I loved this read! And how it impacted you in so many ways especially since it’s hard to find a hairdresser to do exactly what you invisioned. It made me think back to my first time I had my friend cut and style my hair. And she is still the only hairdresser I go to!
