DIY Volcanic Clay Face Mask

Volcanoes are found throughout Latin and South America. You wouldn’t think that they’d bring anything but lava, but turns out, volcanoes are the source of one of our favorite beauty ingredients. Volcanic clay is used by locals as an indigenous beauty staple.

Bentonite is a type of clay made by volcanic ash that is full of minerals. It draws impurities and toxins out of the body. It’s not hard to find, actually, so you can grab some for your own DIY face mask!

How-To:

  • Mix the clay with water until it becomes a paste
  • Apply it to your skin in circular motions to work it in.
  • Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Take a selfie.
  • Wash it off with lukewarm water.

And you’re done! Your skin should look bright and feel refreshed. Our ancestors use this clay to improve skin texture and treat stretch marks. It can also help treat rosacea and eczema.
